As I've told you before, if you want to register your web page on the web then make sure your domain name is unique. Unique, means you need to invent a new word that will have no match in the Internet. Can anyone possibly do that? Yeah, try to enter the words metrosexual, blogs, fling, and George Bush in the Internet and you'll get thousands of results, for sure. But try to do time travel and call someone from the 80s a metrosexual, and he'll think you lost your iPod.

Going down to more serious business, an article in the net said that all the perfect names that a normal person can think of are already existing as URLs in the web. For instance, the word "sex" has almost 300,000 domain. So if you're thinking of setting up a website with the word, you might want to add some words on it like maggot or lacewing flies or anything that clogs your imagination. Speaking of imagination, "imagine" is present in almost 4,000 URLs, imagine that!

If you want to laugh without switching your high definition TV, try to check domain names on the net. The maximum characters allowed for a domain is 63. But if you're going to surf the net for domains instead of watching sex scandal video clips, you'll see there are funny blokes who registered super long names reaching up to 63 characters. I wonder what these websites are for? If they're disaster-preparedness sites, I'd rather have the disaster than type such a long name.

It was President Bill Clinton who signed into law the Anti-cybersquatting Consumer
Protection Act on November 29,1999. The law is a safeguard measure to protect the public against cybersquatters who prey on the Internet. Cybersquatting is a term which describes the bad faith and abusive registration of domain names. It involves the use for registration of the trademark names of others to generate easy profit from sale of the domain names or earn from the site's traffic.
The said legislation amends in effect the Lanham Act by adding a new section which is Section 43(d). The added section provides for a civil remedy which a trademark owner may enforce against cybersquatters. The law categorically identified the violations of cybersquatters as thus: (a) results in consumer fraud and public confusion as to the true source or sponsorship of products and services; (b) impairs electronic commerce, which is important to the economy of the United States; and (c)deprives owners of trademarks of substantial revenues and consumer goodwill. Cybersquatting is a serious offense that should not be ignored. Hence, the government devised a law to address the problem that up to this very day continues to plague the Internet industry.

Don't you just hate it when the domain name that you like very much is already taken? What sucks the most is that almost all the good ones are taken too. But that's not a reason to lose hope. You desired name may be taken, but not forever. There's a possibility that it comes back onto the market due to some reasons. It might be that the webmaster forgot to renew the domain by the expiry date. It could be that the owner, either a sole webmaster or a company, doesn't have the budget to renew the registration. It could also be that it was intentionally brought back to the market for sale.
Pre-registered domains are more valuable compared to new ones. Old domains come with instant traffic. Search engines have already indexed that domain name if the domain name previously pointed to a website. Also, pre-registered domains are easier to remember, especially for people who search the net by typing any particular word followed by dot com. If you want to join in the domain name gold rush, it is much better to watch out for domains even before come back in the market. Look for them at expireddomains.com or at domainsbot.com.

Domain names are turning into extinct species as there aren't too many names that are short, simple, and memorable. That's why, more often than not, people invest on good quality domains. Looking for a domain name causes many customers to feel like it's such an arduous task for them to do alone. Fortunately, with the proliferation of these domain names, there are already such things as domain name generators or locators in the web. One good example of these services is NameBoy.
NameBoy is an online domain name generator that looks up the best domain names in the industry using a unique naming tool the site devised. These are the four sides of natural language variation, namely: Morphology, Phonology, Semantics and Syntax. Using these four tools, NameBoy can create name variations using only the connotation and sound of a given keyword. The next step is to build words and meaningful phrases using words that are currently used.
Based in Portland, Oregon, NameBoy is composed of a team of professionals both in the computer software field and the Internet. It was established in 1999 and aims to provide solution to the qualms of customers who are in search for the perfect domain name.

If you are an eager beaver reading my blog, by now I'm sure that you know that domain names have life cycles. Like a butterfly that morphed from an ugly caterpillar, domain names can suffer expiration once the neglectful owner forgets to renew his registration or fails to pay the renewal fee. Expiring domain names can be a problem especially if you're trying to catch them or you're anticipating to be the next owner of one.
But pcNames.com has made it possible to easily locate pre-release names, names that have been ignored by the owner. The domain name market place developed an au courant (that's French for in the current) category for names which have not been renewed by the previous owner for reasons of neglect or who knows what. It makes these name available for auction before they expire, if not sold. But if the owner decides to pay the fee for renewal, the registrar automatically renews the name. pcNames has collected the pre-release names from four registry sites namely: NameWinner, NapNames, Enom, and Godaddy. They sort the names by over 20 factors so that buyers can locate the most important names first. Now, looking up for expiring domain names is pretty easy.

Domain names are quite a good investment on the net. People buy domain names at lower price and re-sell them at a much higher price. Thereby earning more than what they have invested. While for most people, domain names are used for the purpose of having a website that could help people find information about a product or service, source of information and medium of communication.
Looking for the best domain names on the net may be a daunting task to do since there are a lot too many domain name registrars that sell domain names for a range of prices; some good while some may be worth forgetting. You could just wish that these domain names come completely free, right?
Belgacomm does that. But you would have to subscribe to their service to get your new and shining domain name and another point: you would have to be a resident of the Netherlands where Belgacomm is operating. ADSL subscribers of Belgacomm are in for a serious treat as they can ask for a domain name which could either be a .net or .be for free.

The Internet is the most frequently used medium of communication nowadays. It is the main source of countless information and practically all conceivable subjects in the world. But, surfing the net requires a certain degree of knowledge about its basics such as domain names.
The Internet's addresses are merely called internet domains. We naturally cannot send and receive e-mails without utilizing domain names. Not only that, it is not possible for us also to browse the net and get the information that we need if we do not know the internet domains. This is because the e-mail routers do not know where to go to. Domain names fall into different hierarchies. We have the top level domain names and the second level domain names.
Problems and disputes over domain names concern the second level domain names. There are various companies worldwide who claim and use second level domain names that are also claimed and used by other companies, thus, aggravating domain disputes. There is an authorized agency that assign domain names in order to prevent such disputes. There are also some legal remedies and domain name dispute policies regarding this matter.

Buying domain can be equated with scavenging. Although you don't necessarily pick for domains that just go into trash, buying domain names that have been dropped sometimes require good negotiation skills and Google savvy.
Some people buy domains that are near or almost expired because of their page ranking. If the page ranking of a particular domain remains to be high, domain purchasers take advantage of this. The traffic for these domains is still very high, so it's really a skill of scavenging. If you can spot these domains, consider yourself lucky.

If you are searching for a domain name, the most likely place where you can find the right domain for you are in online auction or catalog.
Although some domain names are not readily available or already owned by somebody, you can still lookup for domain names which are already owned by somebody but are inactive. You may directly contact a broker or the domain owner himself to offer a bid. You may also wait for backorders availability. However, the most important factor in looking for a domain name is that it should be registered.
